Hospice of Scotland County implements CellTrak to help improve patient care
Schaumburg, IL (August 8, 2011) - Hospice of Scotland County serves patients and families who live in Scotland, Robeson, Richmond and Hoke counties in North Carolina, and Marlboro, Dillon and Chesterfield counties in South Carolina and provides care to more than 70 patients each day.
Hospice of Scotland County has been using Allscripts Homecare solution for clinical and scheduling needs for over 10 years. They were interested in further automation and reduction of the paperwork required to document home care visits. The new electronic visit verification technologies from CellTrak were selected to be implemented. Hospice of Scotland County selected BlackBerry smartphone devices from Research in Motion (RIM) running on the Alltel network.
Hospice offers help and support to the patient and family on a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week basis. Patients routinely receive periodic in-home services of a nurse, hospice aide, social worker, family support and other members of the Hospice team. The process of verifying a hospice visit has been a very paper based process with a lot of manual intervention steps. With CellTrak, Hospice of Scotland County was able to remove paper work and help the hospice care team spend more time focused on the care of the patient.

The GPS features available as part of the CellTrak solution offering takes the guess work out of calculating mileage. GPS tracks the mileage to and from each patient’s home and immediately stores it in the system. It also gives staff members the ability to get directions from wherever they are to a patient’s home.
