Industry leader further automates staff functions and reduces paperwork required to document home care visits

Schaumburg, IL (December 6, 2011) - Access Home Care is a team of medical professionals dedicated to meeting all of the medical needs in the comfort of your own home. Studies have consistently shown that people like to stay in their home and they also recover and heal faster. For a large number of older adults, home care has the potential to improve quality of life and prevent or delay having to move into an institution, or the need to receive treatment in a hospital setting. Hospice allows them to spend their remaining days of life in the comfort of their own home with the assistance of the Hospice team. For over 6 years, Access Homecare and Hospice has delivered homecare, hospice care, skilled nursing and rehabilitative services via eight office locations throughout Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.

With over 270 employees Access was interested in improving the process associated with getting caregivers to the home and reducing the administrative paperwork associated with documenting a visit. Access Homecare and Hospice selected and implemented the new point-of-care visit manager solution from CellTrak™. For the mobile hospice care and nursing staff, Access chose the BlackBerry smartphone devices running on the Verizon network.

Chad Mangum, BSN, RN, CEO and Owner of Access shared, "We were very pleased with how fast we were able to get our staff using CellTrak. The ease of use of the mobile device is providing value to us in the reduction of paperwork and rekeying of data typically necessary for verifying our visits and paying our staff. We have already seen over a 10 percent on savings with the tracking of employee mileage, and 9 percent in tracking of employee time."

"CellTrak has been a good partner for us and is thinking ahead. We are excited about the development of an enhanced interface between CellTrak and our patient management system, HealthcareFirst. Once completed, it will allow us to leverage even more functionality without having to make investments in additional tools," Mangum commented.

"Using CellTrak to track and document patient specific care plans helps enable collaboration between the nurses and Hospice aides and improve our care in the home," added Suzanne Smith RN Administrator at Access Homecare. "It has also made us 100 percent compliant with our aide documentation because CellTrak won't let the visit close out until it is documented correctly 100 percent and at the time of the visit."

Michael K. Wons, President and CEO of CellTrak Technologies added, "The team at Access Homecare have done a wonderful job in deploying the new technologies in record time and are showing some very promising early results in the usage of CellTrak." Wons added, "Access to a common visit management database and clinical informatics tool is a key part of the solution that we help provide to help augment the back office / clinical system usage by our clients".

In addition to the scheduling and care plan features of the new solution, the GPS features available as part of CellTrak helps take the guess work out of calculating mileage. GPS tracks the mileage to and from each patient's home and immediately stores it in the system. It also gives staff members the ability to get turn-by-turn directions from wherever they are to a patient's home.
