Home Health and Hospice care leader automates staff functions and reduces paperwork required to document home care visits

Schaumburg, IL (September 25, 2012) - Camellia Home Health and Hospice prides itself on providing an unequaled level of quality in the delivery of a broad range of modern health care services that respond to the needs of patients, their community, and all associated health care providers. What distinguishes Camellia from most other health care providers, however, is that their services allow those most in need, the frail and the elderly, to receive award winning health care directly in their own home.

camellia logoCamellia has been using homecare technologies for clinical and scheduling needs for several years. They were interested in further automation and reduction of the paperwork required to document home care visits and importantly were interested in reducing their mileage reimbursement expenses as gas prices were hitting an all time high. Camellia selected and implemented the new point-of-care visit manager solution from CellTrak™. For the mobile home health and hospice care staff, Camellia selected the robust and secure BlackBerry smart phones running on the Verizon network.

Brenda McLendon, IT Support Services Manager at Camellia commented, “CellTrak has been very easy to work with and once the interface was ready for Allscripts we experienced what the full value of the integrated mobile point of care solution could be.” Brenda added, “The experience across our first couple of offices that have gone live has been very positive and we are rapidly ramping up to full roll-out across our Home Health and Hospice locations”.

Camellia strives to work to educate the patient and family and maintain strict adherence to the physician's orders and plans of treatment, including regular follow-up visits with the physician. Importantly the usage of CellTrak has helped caregivers spend more time on care and less time on paperwork.

Michael K. Wons, President and CEO of CellTrak Technologies added, “It has been a pleasure working with the IT and care delivery thought leaders for home health and hospice care at Camellia. They have quickly adopted the new integrated mobile solution which combines the depth and strength of industry leading homecare solution providers”.

The new integrated solution continues to improve and work to address the automation needs enabling the care team to spend more time on care and less time on paperwork. In addition to the integrated visit verification features of the solution, the GPS features available as part of CellTrak takes the guess work out of calculating mileage. GPS tracks the mileage to and from each patient’s home and immediately stores it in the system. It also gives staff members the ability to get directions from wherever they are to a patient’s home.
