San Diego, CA - TripleTree, LLC announced on May 11th the winners of the prestigious I Award® at the Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance (WLSA) Investors Meeting in La Jolla. Following an international call for nominees in March, three winners were selected from close to 80 applicants and 12 finalists. The winners in each of the three categories are:

  • CellTrak Technologies (point of care health solutions) for Best Operational Effectiveness Solution
  • Calgary Scientific (medical imaging) for Best Clinical Applications
  • Zeo (sleep monitoring) for Best Consumer Experience Solution

Recognizing innovation, insight, and initiative in the wireless-life sciences, TripleTree's second annual I Award® program offers validation that mHealth is on the verge of a breakout move. Interest in this yearly recognition program had a 50% increase in the number of applicants over 2009, and saw a broader range of applications for all three award categories. The organizers of the award unanimously agreed applicant quality, solution maturity, and management team sophistication was notably stronger for many of the applicants.

TripleTree is an independent merchant and investment bank. In conjunction with the I Award, the firm released its fifth report and survey on mobile health (mHealth). The Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance (WLSA) is an international think tank that aims to put CEOs from the world's most innovative wireless health companies together with global leaders in healthcare and technology. TripleTree is a founding member of the WLSA.

The WLSA, a non-profit trade group, invited 12 mobile health companies to make presentations about new technologies they are developing in three categories: clinical applications; operational effectiveness; and consumer experience. The group issued an award to one company in each category "to continue to raise awareness of wireless healthcare and of the WLSA," according to Peter Erickson of TripleTree, the Minneapolis-area investment banking firm that sponsors the awards. The presentations also offer a cross-section of the type of innovations now underway in mobile health.

The best operational effectiveness award went to CellTrak. "This is not as sexy as some of the other companies that are pure clinically focused," TripleTree's Erickson says, "But at the end of the day, it really solves a pain point in the industry, which is compliance and operational effectiveness in home healthcare."

"CellTrak is honored to be recognized by Triple Tree and WLSA with the coveted I-Award," shared Michael K. Wons, President and CEO of CellTrak Technologies, Inc. "The award is great recognition for our employees, customers and partners who have worked diligently over the past three years in developing and deploying the CellTrak home health point-of-care and administration system".
