Industry leader further automates staff functions and reduces paperwork required to document home care visits
Schaumburg, IL (September 22, 2011) - One family, one story, one journey – touching one life at a time. Midland Care is a not-for-profit, community based organization providing options to families with challenging health care needs. For over 30 years, Midland has specialized in end-of-life, palliative, bereavement and frail elder care services with services that include Hospice, PACE, Respite, Adult Day Health, Grief & Loss Center, Home Health, and Home Support.
Midland Care Connection has been using Suncoast Solutions Hospice and Homecare solution for clinical and scheduling needs for several years. They were interested in further automation of their staff functions and reduction of the paperwork required to document home care visits. Midland Care Connection selected and implemented the new point-of-care visit manager solution from CellTrak™. For the mobile hospice care staff, Midland chose the BlackBerry smartphone devices running on the Verizon network.
Karren Weichert, President and CEO at Midland Care Connection shared, "We are pleased with the early results in using the mobile solution from CellTrak for our homecare and hospice staff. The integration of CellTrak with Solutions is providing value to us in the reduction of paperwork and rekeying of data typically necessary for verifying our visits and paying our staff".
"Midland continues to lead our healthcare community with the implementation of emerging technologies like CellTrak. We are proud to be partners in progressive technology solutions which ensures we provide the highest quality care, while meeting the rigorous demands of documentation requirements in the home setting. Our home health aides have been able transition to point of service documentation without difficulty." – Harmony Hines, VP of Operations at Midland Care Connection.
Midland Care Connection strives to serve each family according to their needs. For some, it means allowing family members to generally supervise the patient with assistance from our caregivers. For others, it means allowing Midland to assume greater responsibility for the patients needs. Importantly the usage of CellTrak has helped caregivers spend more time on care and less time on paperwork.
Michael K. Wons, President and CEO of CellTrak Technologies added, "The team at Midland Care Connection have done a wonderful job in deploying the new technologies in record time", Wons added that "the tight integration of the information between Suncoast Solutions and CellTrak helps to address the automation needs enabling the care team to spend more time on care and less time on paperwork".
In addition to the scheduling and care plan features of the new solution, the GPS features available as part of CellTrak helps take the guess work out of calculating mileage. GPS tracks the mileage to and from each patient’s home and immediately stores it in the system. It also gives staff members the ability to get turn-by-turn directions from wherever they are to a patient’s home.
