Home Health and Hospice Leader Completes Successful Implementation of Mobile Solution for Compliant Aide Documentation

Schaumburg, IL (January 15, 2013) - St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii is one of the largest providers of non-hospital care in the state, offering a growing number of world-class specialty healthcare programs since 1978. Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, it is the only Catholic healthcare system in Hawaii. The organization carries on the legacy of St. Marianne Cope and the Sisters of St. Francis, who came to the Islands in 1883 to care for those afflicted with Hansen’s disease. While remaining true to its roots, St. Francis Healthcare System is a forward-looking and places a strong emphasis on healthcare innovation. Its home- and community-based programs, primarily designed to serve Hawaii’s growing older adult population and their family caregivers, have become market leaders.

St. Francis Hospice has helped thousands of patients and families over the years. The state’s first and largest hospice organization approaches every patient as an individual with unique needs. The goal of St. Francis Hospice is to do everything within our means to relieve suffering for those with life-limiting illness and their families. When the doctors can no longer cure a disease, St. Francis continues to aggressively treat symptoms and enhance a patient’s quality of life. Their team of specially trained physicians, nurses and social workers provide compassionate care and comfort for patients in their own homes, in nursing homes, or at inpatient facilities in Nu`uanu and Ewa. Accredited by The Joint Commission, St. Francis Hospice and its team of healthcare professionals ensure quality care is a priority in all that they do for their patients.

St. Francis has been using Allscripts for all back office needs for several years. They were interested in compliant aide documentation, staff accountability, cost control and the ability to interface with their current and trusted EHR system. Reduction of the paperwork required to document home care visits and the new streamlined documentation system was a large step for St. Francis. For their mobile documentation staff, St. Francis selected to use their own current Android devices running CellTrak on the Sprint network.

Corinne Suzuka, Executive Director at St. Francis Home Care and Hospice, commented, “CellTrak has been very easy to work with and has made a large impact on documenting at the point of care and this has allowed for virtually paperless field staff,” Ms. Suzuka added, “St. Francis is a forward-looking organization and now a technology leader. It is only right we follow in our own great standards to make sure we are using the most beneficial technology solutions”.

Today, St. Francis Healthcare System remains deeply committed to serving all those in need, including the most vulnerable. Enterprise-wide, St. Francis Healthcare System provides uncompensated care and significant community benefits to create healthy communities in the Spirit of Christ’s healing ministry.

Michael K. Wons, President and CEO of CellTrak Technologies added, “It has been a pleasure working with the team at St. Francis and we are incredibly pleased to help with improving their electronic documentation and bettering staff accountability. The CellTrak VisitManager™ solution partnered with their Electronic Health Record system will continue to bring positive results to the entire St. Francis team.”

In addition to the integrated visit verification and documentation features of the CellTrak solution, replacement of inefficient paper processes with an easy to use mobile app and web-based portal empowers organizations with the tools to automate workflow, improve compliance, reduce operating costs and improve patient care.
