Hospice leader reduces travel expenses by decreasing field staff trips to office

Schaumburg, IL (June 6, 2013) – Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care has long set the standard for end-of-life care in Southern Colorado. They continue to address the individual needs of the patients and families they are privileged to serve. As a nonprofit, Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care serves everyone who needs them, regardless of ability to pay. They offer grief support to anyone who has suffered a loss, whether or not their loved one was a patient. And they provide educational offerings on all matters related to death and dying throughout the area. Since the beginning of their work in Colorado they have made it their mission to preserve the dignity of their patients and provide them with a world-class level of care.

The mission of Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care is to provide terminally ill patients with the necessary physical, emotional and spiritual support to ensure the best quality of their remaining lives. This allows for them to die with dignity and also to provide patient’s families and friends with emotional support for the remainder of the patients’ lives and thereafter. Implementing a technology solution throughout the office allows for agencies to spend less time on paper and more time on care. They have adapted to multiple technology programs with their first type being their EMR, Suncoast Solutions, several years ago. With their mission in mind to create improved streamlined processes and workflow for better patient care, mobile technology was an easy decision to simplify processes and help reduce costs. They chose to deliver services at the point of care via CellTrak on iPhone devices on the Sprint network.

Caren Ermel, CEO at Sangre De Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care shared, “The redundant and counter-productive trips to the office created an added expense. We needed to cut back travel expenses and with the use of mobile technology solutions, we were able to reduce extra and unnecessary trips to our office made by our field staff. The GPS feature makes it very easy to control our mileage reimbursement. This affected our administrative staff as well by reducing data entry and allowed for staff to be tasked with other activities leading to much higher levels of productivity”.

If you’re living with a severe illness, caring for a loved one who is gravely ill, or grieving the loss of someone near to you, Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care can help. For more than 25 years they have provided the comfort of their compassionate medical, emotional and spiritual care to people of all ages who are coping with end-of-life challenges. They are here for you too, with expert services that can ease your burden and enhance your quality of life at this vulnerable time.

Michael K. Wons, President and CEO of CellTrak Technologies stated, “Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care has incorporated mobile technology into their daily processes in lieu of paper to increase productivity” Wons added that “We are incredibly excited to partner with this industry leader and continue to offer the latest technology to better outcomes and improved patient experiences at the point of care.”

In addition to the GPS features, CellTrak offers an integrated visit verification feature. Your staff will gain instant access to patient specific care plans, allowing them to document and verify electronically at the point of care.
